The last Pretzels with a Professional for the school year was held on Wednesday, May 3. Kelly Clements is a general surgery clinical nurse. Ms. Clements works with doctors and families as they prepare for surgery. She is also a teacher to people wanting to go into nursing. She shared how she uses PRIDE every day in the medical field, and entertained some excellent student questions at the end.

Eighth grade Pretzels were on the road to Lincoln Land Community College Workforce Development Center on Monday. During their Career and College field trip, students engaged in many hands-on activities including "driving" a combine, welding and examining a piston. They then ventured to Capital Area Career Center to discover educational opportunities which will be available to them as high school students.

The most recent Pretzels with a Professional was Dawn Nims. She is an Illinois Department of Public Health Communicable Disease Data Manager/Epidemiologist.
She explained her role at IDPH and described how she uses the core subjects in her career. She capped her presentation off with an engaging activity to demonstrate to the 6th and 7th graders how easily and quickly viruses spread when people don't wash their hands
